Natural Treatments
Natural treatments will cover supplements, wholistic
treatments, vitamins, homopathic therapy etc. Other sections will cover topics such as relaxation and exercise.
Natural treatments have become a mainstay of many practitioners around the country. Individuals seeking relief from problems
that modern medicine may not provide often look to and find help with natural solutions. Tinnitus is such a problem.
Please understand that these natural treatments do work for some people, but not all. Many get significant relief and
it may be worth a try.

Lipoflavonoid is an over-the-counter formula created by DSE Healthcare
Solutions in 1961. It is a proprietary nutrient formula containing vitamins C, B-1, B-2, niacin, B-6, B-12, pantothenic
acid, choline, bioflavonoids and inositol. It was first developed to treat patients with Meniere's disease
and has since been used for tinnitus patients. It has not bee approved by the FDA for this purpose, but bioflavonoids
have been shown to improve microcirculation in the inner ear. The manufacturer does not claim that Lipoflavonoid provides
beneficial effects for tinnitus due to other causes other than Meniere's Syndrome.

Niacin has been used as therapy for tinnitus for years with variable success. Niacin
is thought to provide smooth muscle relaxation and perhaps increased blood flow to tiny blood vessels supplying the inner
ear. One side affect of niacin is that patients often experience flushing when taking niacin in effective
doses. Patients should be forewarned of this effect because some can be frightened by the phenomenon. This flushing usually
improves with continued use. Today, there is "flush free" niacin which can be purchased. About half
of all patients with tinnitus report successful treatment with niacin. Patients often report that niacin decreases the intensity
or severity of tinnitus.
